2010 Aberdeen Dad Vail Regatta Driving Directions (PDF) The police close Kelly Drive. Follow the signs for remote parking, (fee required). From the remote parking lots look for the shuttle bus to the racecourse. Buses run throughout the day. Due to limited parking on Kelly Drive, overflow pass parking, will be available at the Mt Pleasant parking area in Fairmount Park. Shuttle Bus service is available from this area and it is a short walk down Fountain Green Drive to Rower's Village. Shuttle Bus Shuttle bus service is available to and from the race course on Kelly Drive from 6:00AM until 7:00PM on both Friday, May 7 and Saturday, May 8. This service is free of charge and will pick up from, and return spectators to, the remote parking lots as well as the Philadelphia Art Museum. The Art Museum, a short walk from downtown Philadelphia, is also accessed by SEPTA Routes 32 and 38, and is near historic Boathouse Row. If you drive, plan on parking your vehicle in the remote lots provided in historic Fairmount Park. To access parking, follow the directions to Kelly Drive elsewhere on this site. Once on Kelly Drive, there will be signs posted to the remote parking areas. Shuttle buses will pick you up in the parking areas. You will be minutes from the race course and Rower’s Village. If you walk from Center City or take public transportation (Septa Routes 32 and 38), shuttle buses will pick you up at 25th Street and Kelly Drive (gold equestrian statue of St. Joan of Arc). Walking from Center City, go to the right (north) of the Art Museum. Don’t forget to stop at the Rocky Statue or run up the Art Museum steps like Rocky. Proceed another block along Kelly Drive to 25th Street (gold equestrian statue of St. Joan of Arc). Once on the bus, after passing historic Boathouse Row, you can get off at Rower’s Village and then walk approximately ½ mile to the finish line or stay on the bus, proceed through the parking areas and get off at the Canoe Club (mid race), the 500 meter mark (final quarter) or the finish line. The Dad Vail Shuttle Buses will be marked "Aberdeen Dad Vail Regatta" and will be either double decker London style buses or trolley style buses. There will even be tour guides on some buses. 2010 Aberdeen Dad Vail Regatta Shuttle Bus Information (PDF) Handicapped Parking Parking is difficult on Kelly Drive and there are no reserved parking spaces for Handicapped motorists. However, vehicles with license plates indicating that the driver is handicapped or carrying a state Handicapped tag hanging from the rear view mirror, may pass through police barricades by showing these credentials. Once on the drive, however, it's first come-first served. From Center City Get on the Ben Franklin Parkway and head toward the Philadelphia Art Museum in the distance. As you approach the Museum-on your left side-is a traffic light. Bear right and look for Kelly Drive signs. Kelly Drives runs along the north side of the Museum. On your right will be another traffic light and a gold equestrian statue of St. Joan of Arc. Moving onward you will see on the right another traffic light and a tall statue of a seated President Lincoln. Ahead on your left is a series of Victorian Architecture structures (Philadelphia’s famed Boat House Row). Go past these for about two miles when a white Police barricade will appear. Bear right past the equestrian statue of President Grant and seek parking signs toward remote parking. Park and wait for a shuttle bus to the regatta. From the Northeast (New York & Trenton) I 95 South to I 676 West to I 76 West. Exit at Exit 340A (Kelly Drive/Lincoln Drive). Follow Kelly Drive to police barricades and remote parking. From the Northwest (Harrisburg and the West) Pennsylvania Turnpike to I 76 East to Route 1 and Exit 340A (Kelly Drive/LincolnDrive). Follow Kelly Drive to police barricades and remote parking. From the South (Philadelphia International Airport, Wilmington and Washington) I 95 North to I 76 West to Exit 340A (Kelly Drive/Lincoln Drive).
