Open Singles Sculling Collegiate Championship competition
Jim Hanna, President of the Dad Vail Regatta Organizing Committee, Inc. is pleased to announce a new addition to the May 13-14, 2011 Aberdeen Dad Vail Regatta, presented by Coca-Cola: an exhibition Open Singles Sculling Collegiate Championship competition.
Race registration for the newly inaugurated Open Singles Sculling Collegiate Championship competition is open to all full time undergraduate student athletes pursuing their initial degree, attending colleges or universities recognized by the National Collegiate Athletic Association or analogous collegiate athletic governing bodies. Eligible athletes include, but are not limited to, students at founding institutional members of the Dad Vail Regatta, former members of the Dad Vail Rowing Association and Affiliate and non Affiliate participating colleges and universities in the annual Aberdeen Dad Vail Regatta. The rules for certification by institutional officers from entering colleges and universities for entries are the same as those for all Dad Vail Regatta competitors. The winning male and female single sculler will receive a trophy emblematic of the Open Single Sculling Collegiate Championship. All races will be held over the 2,000 meter course on the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia. Races will be held in the format of heats, semi finals and finals with seeding based upon substantiated performance information submissions. In the event that more than 36 men or 36 women enter the respective races, a head style time trial will be held on the afternoon of Thursday, May 12 to determine the final 36 competitors in the respective races. The entry registration fee for this race is $100.00 paid in advance through Regatta Central. Entries are due by April 15, 2011. There is no connection between the $100 entry fee and any Affiliate registration, hence the use of the word “Exhibition.” Founded in 1934, the mission of the Dad Vail Regatta, now renamed the Aberdeen Dad Vail Regatta, Presented by Coca-Cola® is to encourage the sport of rowing in colleges and universities in the United States and Canada. The Dad Vail is a nonprofit 501(c) 3 organization. Content reviewed and published: 4/12/2011 3:01:46 PM |
